Photo LP Remake
Photography II 2024
The objective of this project was to redesign an existing album cover, with a primary focus on photography as the central visual element and typography as a complementary component. Both elements were carefully crafted to reflect and communicate the overarching theme of the album and the identity of the artist.
Research and Exploration
By creating a mood board to explore album covers that inspired me, I discovered that I’m especially drawn to designs that feel like nostalgic time capsules imagery that captures a sense of memory, emotion, and time.
Original Cover
After exploration, I chose to reimage the cover art and visuals for Bruce Springsteen's album, Born to Run, shown below.
Mood Board and Inspiration
Born to Run is a nostalgic American anthem about youth, escape, and the longing for freedom. Released in 1975, it captures the restless spirit of breaking free from small-town life in search of something bigger and more meaningful.

Iterations
I experimented with many different type faces as well as color and placement. Through my exploration I found that what I liked best was to scan in calligraphic handwriting for the typeface on the front and back. This made it feel more personal and reminded me a lot of Bruce Bruce Springsteen's authenticity and reminded me of how he often hand wrote a lot of his songs.
