Haiku Poem

“A Poppy Blooms” by Katsushika Hokusai
I write, erase, rewrite
Erase again, and then
A poppy blooms.

Objective
This project involved developing a three page booklet where each spread corresponds to one line of a haiku poem. It also includes a front cover that hints at the theme of the booklet and a back cover that reveals the full poem. The main goal was to convey the feeling and meaning of the poem visually. The haiku that I chose was written by Katsushika Hokusai in 18th century Japan. The poem is about a writer’s unpredictable writing process that eventually leads to something beautiful.
